The fifth edition of the Dr. Oetker Junior Trophy tournament, a TE international competition, 1st category, is about to take place on the courts of the National Tennis Center in Bucharest, from 23 to 29 May.

General Manager Dr. Oetker Romania Ioan Cozma says that it is important to offer the necessary support to future talents of Romanian tennis.

Jacques Dupre, President of Tennis Europe, thinks highly of the quality of Dr. Oetker Junior Trophy tournaments organized in Romania. This TE international competition, Grade 1 is now on its 5th edition and will take place on the courts of the National Tennis Center in Bucharest, from 23 to 29 May.

‘It is my great pleasure to welcome you to this event, part of the Tennis Europe Junior Circuit. Each year, tournaments like this one offer international playing opportunities and a unified ranking system for over 10.000 children from all over the world, competing in three age categories: 16, 14 and 12 & under. 2016 is set to be a very special year for the Circuit as we celebrate its 26th anniversary. Almost all of today’s top players participated on the Tennis Europe Junior Circuit on their way to becoming professional players. It is important to recognize that many hundreds of tournament organizers, committees, clubs and officials work tirelessly each year to stage the events that make up the Tennis Europe Junior Circuit. The Dr. Oetker Junior Trophy tournament, organized together with the Romanian Tennis Federation, is the largest European competition for children up to 14 years that takes place in Romania. Over 100 players from 25 countries will compete at the National Tennis Center both in singles matches and in doubles matches.

We have champions, valuable players, we have Simona Halep, Horia Tecau and Florin Mergea but we, the Romanian Tennis Federation, are even more focused on the future of this beautiful sport. This is the fifth edition and I am sure it will be a success, like all the previous ones, because we have talented children who will definitely make us proud.
