Ilie Năstase considers that the athletes participating in the international Dr. Oetker Junior Trophy tournament will become champions because they play with pleasure.

„In my time there were no such tournaments with players from other countries. I had no referee, and those balls flew like planes. We played with a lot of ambition, but these children will surely become champions because they play with pleasure „, said Ilie Năstase.

Maia Ilinca Burcescu and Eric Maximmilian Niță were awarded the “Young Talents” Trophy by Ioan Cozma, General Manager of Dr. Oetker Romania. Also, the Fair Play Trophy in memory of Florence Mihai was announced, which will be awarded by Cătălina Cristea (Tournament Director).

„Last year, due to the pandemic, we could not play the ninth edition of the Dr. Oetker Junior Trophy. The atmosphere has calmed down a bit and we are glad that this tournament is still going on. I am very happy that some of the young people I rewarded as future talents at previous editions have confirmed and even played on the ATP boards. For example, Jaqueline Cristian, whose trophy I deciphered two years ago. This year we were allowed to organize only a tour with a picture of 32 due to the pandemic, but I hope that next year we will be again with a picture of 64. I would like to create an emulation in support of young talents and expand the number of sponsors. I am glad that Iga Swiatek (Poland) who played in a tournament supported by Dr. Oetker, the Romania – Poland final in Curtea de Argeș, confirmed at a high international level. We will hear many more names, for example we have a very talented sportswoman, Eva Ionescu (Tennis Club Curtea de Argeș) who I hope will confirm. Despite all these pandemic conditions, we managed to attract athletes from over 10 countries, which says a lot about the value of this tournament „, said Ioan Cozma, General Manager Dr. Oetker Romania.

„It has become a tradition to compete for the Dr. Oetker Junior Trophy at the National Tennis Center at the end of spring. It is the most important competition in South Eastern Europe, played by the great champions, including Federer, Djokovik and Simona Halep. At this tournament you will meet children you will hear about in the future. The best to win, I hope the best will be from us „, said the official F.R. Tennis, George Cosac.

„I am glad to see you again, we are very happy that the Dr. Oetker Junior Trophy tournament is being played again. Honestly, last year I didn’t have that hope. For this we are here to bring joy to the children. Good luck to all „, said the General Manager of F.R. Tennis, Răzvan Itu.

„Thoughts go primarily to Dr. Oetker, without whom this tournament would not have been possible. Maybe other companies will discover how beautiful it is to organize tennis tournaments. This way we can give chances to the children, first of all to the very good children from the country. Last year was difficult without this tournament, but we hope that next year we will return to the original form of the picture „, said Daniel Dobre. FRT Technical Director.
